Room to Improv’s NEW Artistic Director!

June 13th, 2012

Room to Improv’s NEW Artistic Director is…

::insert drumroll here::

Earl Baylon

hot sex on a platter

… the ever hilarious, EARL BAYLON!

Let me be the first on this blog to welcome Earl into this new position. I can speak for the rest of ROOMies when I say that we are all excited for this next step.

It was such a blow to lose Marc Macalintal – he was our fearless leader for 7 years and one of the original players – but, we do understand his decision… I mean, how can we stop anyone from pursuing their dream? Best of luck, Marc. You are missed.

Earl definitely has some big shoes to fill, but have you seen his feet? You know what they say… big feet means that he is completely capable of running an Asian-American Improv Troupe! Or something like that. He brings a lot of knowledge, experience, and a genuine love for improvisation which only inspires the rest of us.

So, let’s all give Earl a warm round of applause and, in true Room To Improv fashion, a loud WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

An Announcement from the Artistic Director…

May 25th, 2012

News from Around the Globe!!  This just in: Marc Macalintal, the Artistic Director of Room to Improv, will be stepping down at the end of the season. Sadface.

Yes folks, you read that right. We regret to inform everyone that our fearless leader will be stepping down from his post after the last show of the season. Unfortunately, he will also be stepping down from the cast. Sadderface.

Marc has done great things with the group during his 7-year stint as Artistic Director, and we will be sad to see him go.  We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. We’d like to remind him that there will always be room to improv with Room to Improv in the future, however long it may take him to return.  Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.

And now, a few words from the man himself:

Thank you to everyone that has made my seven years as artistic director of Room To Improv memorable!  Special thanks to Rick Shaw at The Two Roads Theater for giving us a home, Moonie Lantion, Brian Reyes and Randy Stanley for our sound and lights, our volunteers Erica, Selene, Grace, and Josie for welcoming our guests at the door, Rosselle Azar and the staff at St. Patrick School for the years of rehearsal space, Helen Ota and the cast of Cold Tofu for the wonderful collaboration shows, Traci Kato-Kiriyama and everyone at Tuesday Night Project for letting us play, Lynn Arthurs, Marilyn Tokuda and the East West Players family for your support,, SIPA, Mezclao, FilAm Arts and especially our faithful audience members for all the love!
Finally, a big hug to every cast member of RTI both old and new – thank you so much for all the laughs and smiles that have caused me to get all teary-eyed!  You will ever be in my heart.  Onward and upward you bitches!!
Auf Wiedersehen, you filthy animal.
